A day at the park … isn’t always a day at the park.
What you intend to be a fun and relaxing day with family or friends can quickly turn into something unpleasant. Getting hit in the mouth with a flying disc or a baseball could cause a broken or lost tooth. Either would be a dental emergency, which would kind of spoil the fun of your day.
If you are in or near Roswell, GA, you should know that Dr. Jeffrey T. Fester is ready to help you stop your pain and suffering, so you can your healthy smile back. Save our number, 770-462-8963, in case you need us for emergency dental care … or to prevent needing it.
Be Prepared
Just like good scouts, you should be prepared for how to handle an emergency like the one mentioned above.
With a dental injury, you first need to assess whether a tooth is broken or has been knocked out of its socket. With the knocked-out tooth, it may be possible to save it if you can see a doctor in a short amount of time. In either situation, one of the first things, you should do is rinse your mouth with water.
If you are bleeding, you can use gauze to soak up the blood. Rinse and repeat as needed until the bleeding stops. If you have a broken tooth, you should keep it covered, either with a clean piece of gauze or some dental wax. If your tooth was knocked out, try to place it back in its socket. If it stays, leave it there. If not, keep the tooth in a container of milk to bring with you to our office.
Stop The Pain, Find A Solution
Whether you have one of the problems mentioned above or a toothache, our first concern is to stop your pain.
Once we’ve addressed the immediate issue, Dr. Fester can discuss long-term fixes for your situation. Depending on your particular problem, this might mean a dental crown. You could use a dental implant, or you may need a dental filling or root canal.
The good news is that we can handle all of those treatments at our office. Together, we’ll come up with a plan to get your smile and your oral health back on track.
Take Preventive Steps
Of course, we would prefer to keep your teeth unbroken, in your mouth, and without decay or infections. This is why we hope you will keep up your daily oral hygiene and schedule regular dental cleanings and exams.
Routine checkups can remove the cause of dental problems and give us a chance to address small issues before they can become dental emergencies. You also should be wearing an athletic mouthguard whenever you play sports. This will protect against dental injuries.
Our team at Dr. Fester’s office in Roswell, GA has seen just about every dental emergency you can imagine with our decades of experience. We are more than ready to repair your smile, so you can get back to doing the things that you want to do.
