What Is A Root Canal?
When the nerves in the root of your tooth become infected, the infected area needs to be removed – this is called a root canal. It’s important that the infection be treated quickly to avoid much more serious problems.
While you relax, the area around the tooth is numbed and the infected tissue is removed. The canal is then sealed back up and a crown is placed over the tooth for aesthetics and healing purposes. Generally, by the time the sedation has worn off, you are pain free and able to eat again.
No Need To Fear A Root Canal
While many patients fear a root canal, it can provide immediate relief for pain you’ve been experiencing for a long time – hoping it would go away. The process can be relatively simple and creates more relief than discomfort.
If you are experiencing pain or have sensitivity to heat and/or cold, please schedule a visit and hopefully we can often prevent the need for a root canal.
If you wait too long, it may be necessary for you to see an oral surgeon. If this is the case, we have a well-established referral network of experienced practitioners and can generally schedule an appointment for you.

What others say about us

Dear Jeff,
I was a little fuzzy when leaving the office yesterday and it was a couple of hours later when I really looked in the mirror.
Your good and careful work has made a remarkable improvement in the appearance of those bottom teeth. I could hardly believe it, and now will not be so conscious when smiling.
When Mike saw me there in the waiting room he said “Oh, Delores, that is so good”. And, the inside feels very smooth – after all these years!
Thank you for all the excellent work you have done, your kind consideration and your friendship.
Many Blessings,

Dear Dr. Fester,
When I saw this article today in the AJC it made me think of you and your staff. And how you emulate their description of running a successful and happy office!
Your attention to providing me with an upper partial and lower denture is appreciated. Greetings to everyone on your staff and family!

Dear Dr. Fester,
Thank you so much for your kindness! You and your staff have always been wonderful to our family. Please accept this gift for a special treat for you and your staff. (“my treat”)
